Scottburgh High runner-up in chess league

The first team chess players are applauded for their achievement.

As the 2023 chess league came to an end, Scottburgh High School‘s chess players proudly earned themselves second place in the Durban South Coast chess league.

SHS competed against Kuswag, Kingsway High, Amanzimtoti High, Port Shepstone High, Grosvenor Boys High and Suid Natal.

The school hosted four games and visited two other schools. The team worked hard all season and it definitely paid off.

Captain Tiyashka Gurunand led the team to victory in several matches and all showed excellent teamwork and skills.

The SHS first team chess players second place finish is a testament to their love and dedication of the game. The school and its chess coordinator Jacine Pillay are proud of the learners achievements.
