From Japan to Israel for swimmer
This is Milla Drakopoulos' second time qualifying for a senior international event.
Swimmer Milla Drakopoulos is competing in the 20th World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, Japan from July 18 to August 1.
Formerly from Shelly Beach, Milla (17) is the youngest in the South African senior team by three years.
Earlier this week, Milla scored a 1:02:77 in her 100m backstroke in Fukuoka.
In the 50m backstroke race held yesterday (Wednesday) she scored a winning time of 29:31.
“Just a year ago, she scored 1:04:33 at the World Junior Champs in Peru. Well done on your progress! Now for the World Junior Championships in Israel in September. Enjoy!” said her coach Wayne Riddin.
This is Milla’s second time qualifying for a senior international event.
Milla said she is excited that her hard work has paid off. She added that she is a competitive person and she has had pure love for the sport since a young age.
