The temporary program which started now in the month of July 2023 will expire in April 2024, identifying three workers in each ward who will work for ten months.

Umzumbe Municipality recently hired 10 young people who will get work experience after they signed up to be part of the municipality’s Unemployed Graduates programme.

According to the municipality the programme was advertised at the beginning of the year.

It said individuals who bagged the opportunity included Nombulelo Madlala (ward 18- Public Participation), Lungile Shezi, (ward 20- Special Programmes Unit), Zamokuhle Mpisane (ward 19- Disaster Management), Anele Makhathini (ward 10- LED), Hlengiwe Mnguni, (ward 13- LED), Mthokozisi Mthethwa (ward 15- ICT), Sbahle Zama (ward 6- Communication Unit), and Mbali Ngcobo (ward 10- Social Services Unit).

Congratulating those who entered the programme, Umzumbe Municipality mayor, Bongani Nyuswa, said: “I congratulate all those who got this opportunity, it was certainly not easy as there were more than 300 applications but we are making sure to find the right candidates in terms of qualifications and the main thing is that they are all residents of Umzumbe. We are proud of you, we promise that you will get the right experience as this program over the years has produced managers of various government agencies.”

Meanwhile, Umzumbe Municipality also welcomed 60 workers to the Expanded Public Works Program (EPWP).
Mayor Nyuswa said the temporary programme which started now in July will conclude in April 2024, identifying three workers in each ward who will work for ten months.
