Actor Bruce launches film academy

The Bruce Gounder Film Academy was initially introduced to budding stars in Scottburgh and surrounding areas in 2021.

Bruce Gounder, a well-known actor, producer and director from Scottburgh, has chosen to share his acting skills on a much larger scale with aspiring actors through his recently launched film academy.
The Bruce Gounder Film Academy has been in the works for some time, and was initially introduced to budding stars in Scottburgh and surrounding areas in 2021. The idea has now manifested country-wide and the academy launched at Hotel Savera in Durban earlier this month.
Through the academy, the actor is able to coach others and uses a form of method acting to do so. This is where actors are encouraged to identify with, understand and experience their character’s inner motivation and emotions.
“This is one of the best techniques to use for acting,” explained Bruce. “And some of the best actors such as Robert De Niro and Dustin Hoffman are known to use this method.”

The Durban launch was done in conjunction with June being Youth Month as Bruce aimed to empower the youth through something fun and informative.
The youngsters also received film set training and were taught about camera angles and how to handle themselves during auditions.
In the near future, the film academy is expected to reach Port Shepstone, Richards Bay and Pietermaritzburg.
Also in relation to working with the youth, one specific child star has taken a special place in Bruce’s heart, and that is his talented ten month old nephew Aryeh Gounder.
“He is such a unique and talented baby that hopefully is going to follow in my footsteps,” said the proud uncle.
“We will try to get him in baby commercials, and he is going to make his acting debut playing a younger version of me in an upcoming movie called ‘The Expirer’.”
