New centre to equip youth with skills

The official opening took place in Bhobhoyi, Jesus area.

As part of the Youth Month commemoration, the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Social Development MEC Nonhlanhla Khoza who is also the Ugu District Operation Sukumasakhe chairperson officially opened the Tolomane Mnyayiza Youth Development Skills Centre at Bhobhoyi, Ward 23 under Ray Nkonyeni Municipality on Tuesday, last week.

The youth centre is set to equip young people with skills pertaining to garment manufacturing, bricklaying, food technology, sewing and other skills.
The centre operates in line with the requirements of Esayidi TVET College and National Youth Development Agency.

About 52 students have graduated from the centre through a programme which was initiated prior to the official opening ceremony.
The ceremony was organised by the Department of Social Development and Ugu District Operation Sukumasakhe.

Thandile Khambule who received a certificate for a six month course in hospitality said she was excited because she now has succeeded and finished her course.

Khambule said she hopes this encourages other people to study.
