Kennel club enjoys show day

As members approach the end of June and enter July it's time to begin to celebrate the club's 50th anniversary.

It was show time, once again, at Hibiscus Kennel Club last Sunday and what is better than sunshine, a beautiful green field, dogs and spending a perfect day with like-minded people.

The courses built by Barbara Egan and Michelle Howard were fast, challenging and interesting with the different elements incorporated.

Michelle is a trainee judge with many years of dog training experience behind her and deserves to qualify as she was confident, kind and did not stint on her praise.

Barbara, being a veteran at the sport, had everything under control and the dog judging went smoothly and on time. Thank you for your years of dedication to the sport, Barbara.

Although every dog and handler were winners, Ninette Smith deserves a very special well done, as does Elsie Pretorius, on receiving signatures. Those were two amazing rounds.

As members approach the end of June and enter July it’s time to begin to celebrate the club’s 50th anniversary.
Many dogs and handlers have been part of this journey leaving their mark.

The history is fascinating as the club started from humble beginnings and has grown into the institution it has become today.

If there are any former members out there who have not been contacted and would like to be part of the festivities, please contact Elsie Pretorius on 084 3114859.

Training takes place at the Port Shepstone borough ground field on Saturday afternoon from 14:00 for beginners and 15:00 for the more advanced dogs.
The club offers basic social obedience, agility and hoopers.
Participate in all three for the ultimate fun or take your pick.

It is recommended having basic obedience first.
