Sardine excitement as silver fish arrive on South Coast

The sardines have arrived and hopefully more will come this winter.

There’s been some early Sardine Run hype with netting taking place at various beaches on the South Coast from yesterday afternoon.

There have been reports of the eagerly awaited fish being netted and/or seen offshore at in Margate, Hibberdene, Mtwalume, Ifafa and Pumula beaches.

The boating and fishing community is very excited as many feared there would be limited activity as certain Ugu pumpstations are malfunctioning and sewer water has or is being pumped into the ocean in some places.
