Set, volley and spike in schools tourney

Don’t miss out on the final schools' volleyball action at Marburg Sports Complex on Saturday, August 16.

THE countdown to the final schools’ volleyball knockout competition has begun.

The knockout is scheduled for the Marburg Sports Complex, next Saturday, August 16.

This final tournament of the season is being hosted by the Port Shepstone Volleyball Association’s Schools’ Volleyball Committee.

Schools taking part are reminded that entries close on Monday, August 11 at 2pm. Entry forms may be faxed to Jai Hind Primary at 039 6820861 or 086 5611040. Unfortunately as this is a pre-entry tournament with draws and fixtures being done a week in advance, no late entries will be accepted.

The tournament is open to all schools within the Ugu District. For further information, contact chairman of the schools’ volleyball committee, Ivan Govender at 078 559 2017.

However at the time of going to press, entries for the final KO have been trickling in and it seems that some local schools which do not meet the entry deadline, will be disappointed. With the entry fees for the tournament at R80 per team, schools can enter as many teams as they wish provided they conform to the divisions (U-12, U-14, U-16 and Over 16 divisions) and the qualifying year of birth. It is the responsibility of the school to submit its tournament entries timeously.

The tournament starts at 8am with the primary schools’ section and 10.30am for the secondary schools’ sections.

The adopted charitable organisation, Bread of Heaven, which feeds thousands of schoolchildren will again be running this year’s tuck shop. It is offering affordable meals. Schools which wish to order their meals, can contact Jo Naidoo at 076 619 2265.
