Dududu man sentenced to 10 years for murder

The 50 year old victim was severely assaulted and died from the injuries.

Daniel Lizwe Mbhele (22) was convicted of murder and sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment at the Scottburgh Regional Court recently.

Mbhele severely assaulted a 50 year old man who was returning home on the evening of May 1 after attending a traditional function in Dududu.

According to police, an argument began between the men and a fight broke out which resulted in the victim dying from his injuries.

“A witness was able to identify the suspect and he was arrested by police shortly thereafter,” said Captain Petros Mpinge, Saps Ugu District, Port Shepstone spokesperson.
Mbhele remained in police custody throughout his trial and was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.

The investigating officer in the case was Detective Sergeant Sandile Mpanza.
