Major medal haul for swimmer Leah Scott

The highlight of the gala was watching Leah achieve her personal goal of swimming a South African national junior qualifying time for the 100m breaststroke.

Leah Scott, who’s in Grade 9 at Southcity Christian College, may be growing up on a farm, but she is excelling in the swimming pool.

She has always loved the outdoors, is very active, and loves sport – all sport, but especially hockey and swimming.
She has had a successful summer swimming season and last month took part in the 2023 SA Level 3 regional age group championships at Kings Park pool in Durban.

Leah showed true tenacity and spirit which then showed in her results.
She swam seven events and made the finals for all seven, walking away with six medals.

Of these, three were gold medals – for 50m breaststroke, 100m breaststroke and 50m freestyle.
She earned a silver medal for the 50m butterfly, plus bronze medals for 50m backstroke and 100m freestyle.
