OPINION: Eskom could have turned a blind eye

Batho Pele? Does it not appear in your vocabulary anymore?

I shall keep this short and maybe not so sweet. We have just come out of a marathon electricity blackout of 40 and some hours, which was as a direct result of damage to power lines because of a huge storm.

Judging by the length of time we were in the dark, damage must have been extensive and thank you to Eskom field staff for the repair.
However, one would think that because of the extended outage, during which time fridges defrosted and one can only guess as to how much frozen food was spoiled – why did we need to be loadshedded a mere three hours after we had got the electricity supply restored?

Did we not suffer enough inconvenience and deprivation and financial loss? Surely, Eskom, you could have turned the blind-eye and left the switch in the on position?

Batho Pele? Does it not appear in your vocabulary anymore?
