OPINION: Is myopia an African only problem?

"Were the country’s road permitted to crumble by themselves because nobody could foresee the long-term effects on our economy?"

Myopia is the condition of being short-sighted.
May I enquire, my fellow South Africans, is this myopic state purely an African problem or a challenge, as this appears to be the most preferred term.

A multitude of shortcomings, indecisions, poor judgement and lack of planning and foresight are bundled into the ‘challenge’ category.
Was myopia in play when Eskom was permitted to crumble and decay from within itself?
Were the country’s road permitted to crumble by themselves because nobody could foresee the long-term effects on our economy?

Now, with the strike situation at hospitals preventing health care for patients to continue, is myopia again in play? What about the critically ill? What about the children?

What about, striking person, if YOUR family required urgent medical care – would your attitude to no-access suddenly flip-flop?
It is all very well applying your choice of action to get your way, but with this comes responsibilities and I fear the rebellious individuals are suffering from the condition called myopia in this regard.
