One dead, many injured in head-on collision near Tweni
One vehicle overturned and left the road, coming to a stop about 10 metres down an embankment.
One person died and five others were injured in a crash on the near Umtentweni yesterday (Sunday).
Kwazulu Private Ambulance Service responded to the incident on the N2 near Umtentweni.
Chantell Botha of Kwazulu Private Ambulance Service said that when emergency services arrived they found that two vehicles had been involved in a head-on collision, causing one vehicle to overturn and leave the road, coming to a stop about 10 metres down an embankment.
Paramedics quickly assessed the scene and found that five patients had sustained serious injuries.
Sadly, one person sustained fatal injuries and succumbed to their injuries before emergency services arrived.
With the assistance from Ray Nkonyeni Fire and Rescue services, paramedics from multiple services stabilised and hoisted the patients up the embankment using specialised equipment.
The cause of the collision is not known but authorities are investigating.
