The annual Southbroom Shootout, played recently at Southbroom Golf Club, was won by team Fish & Chips.
The four players were Gavin Sole, Geoff Skelton, Bruce and Derrik Matthew, who carded 165 points over the two days.
Gavin produced the highlight of the tournament with a sensational 62 on the Friday. “Lucky round,” he said.
He followed up with 72 the next day to keep his handicap from falling completely into the abyss.
Runners-up were Team Sweden, namely Christer Solgevik, Bo Bergqvist, Werner Duggan and Cyprian Xolo, on 163 points.
Last Minute.Com was third, comprising Gary Purtell, Nicky Smith, Graham Massyn and Di Morris, on 159 points.
Fourth spot went to Super Crocs, Howard Kelly, Alex Crawford, Malcolm Greenland and Bob Clark, on 158 points.
The previous Wednesday’s comp was won on 33 points by Gjertrud Kok, counting out Michelle van der Hoek.
In third place was Candida Amm on 31 points.
In the men’s section, the winner on 38 points was Werner Duggan, four clear of John Fox and Gary Purtell.
Fourth place went to Emil Hierhold on 33 points, counting out Bo Bergqvist and Marius Santos.
