Boyfriend jailed for girlfriend’s murder

He was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.

Siyabonga Tobias Dlamini, who stabbed his girlfriend to death in April 2022, was recently sentenced in the Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court.

Port Shepstone police spokesperson, Captain Petros Mpinge said Dlamini stabbed Thando Cele (24) to death and dumped her body in the river at KwaCele in Scottburgh.

“In an angry rage on April 2, 2022, the 29-year-old Dlamini stabbed Cele and police responded swiftly to arrest the suspect and retrieve the deceased from the river with the assistance of SAPS Search and Rescue unit. Detective Warrant Officer Njabulo Latha investigated the murder case and brought it to a close when the accused was sentenced to serve 15 years in prison,” said Mpinge, adding that he was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.
