Near-drowning survivor Miané Ainslie, known by most South Africans as Warrior Miané, is a true miracle in the making and she needs your help now more than ever.
On November 9 in 2015, this little girl’s life took a drastic turn.
Miané was only 19 months old at the time when she had a near-drowning accident at her family home in Witbank.
Her heart stopped beating for 45 minutes, until hospital personnel resuscitated her.
As a result of the near-drowning, Miané was diagnosed with microcephalic spasticity quadriplegic cerebral palsy with global development delay, intellectual disability, pseudobulbar palsy, epilepsy, cortical visual impairment, obstructive sleep apnea and has dislocated hips and scoliosis kyphosis of the thoracic spine.
Miané and her mother Claudette are well-known faces on the South Coast as they used to live in the Ifafa area not too long ago.
They are often in Scottburgh where Miané gets her monthly chronic medication at the local hospital.
The mother and daughter are still on the South Coast, but have now moved more to Amanzimtoti.
Miané’s story has been shared by a number of media houses over the years.
At the moment, Miané is undergoing all the therapy possible to help her build new neural pathways.
She is currently doing chiropractor sessions, occupational therapy, cortical visual impairment sessions, physiotherapy and ABM therapy.
“She is making fantastic progress in her therapy and everyday is still a miracle from God,” said Claudette.
Claudette is a single mum who simply wants to do everything she can to help her daughter continue this fight.
There have been numerous ways in which Claudette has been able to raise money for her daughter to aid with medical bills and other expenses, but it is simply not enough.
The young warrior needs to undergo gallbladder and teeth extraction surgery. This surgery will cost roughly R92 000 which excludes radiologist and pathologist costs.
Finance is also required to pay off an overdue occupational therapy account, as well as for Miané’s incontinence products and for petrol (Uber fees) for transport to and from doctor, hospital and therapy visits. All of this adds up to just under R9000.
