Athletes prep for popular Scottburgh marathon

There will be great prizes up for grabs too.

Scottburgh Athletic Club is hosting its popular annual half marathon and 10km race at the Scottburgh Golf Club this Sunday (15th).

The race will start at 05:30 and the route is along Williamson Street and the R102.

This will cause a slight traffic disruption, the public is requested to exercise caution and patience in the interest of safety for the runners and motorists. The club is expecting 600 to 700 runners for the main races from around the province which brings much-needed tourism to Scottburgh.

There are great prizes up for grabs and there will also be a 4km fun walk/run which can be entered on the morning at the club, so families with prams and (leashed) dogs are welcome to join in on the fun!

The club is also honoured to have the vice-president of KZN Athletics, Mandla Mngomezulu attending the event and who will be handing out the prizes too.

Entries are still available for the 10/21.1km races, but are selling out fast. Enter online at Eventtiming.co.za

The businesses in Scottburgh have, once again come together to sponsor the prizes and various expenses for the event and the athletic club thanks them.

Furthermore, the verges on the R102 were trimmed in preparation for the race, which is highly appreciated.

The club trusts that this will be an enjoyable day for all and look forward to seeing many familiar Scottburgh faces running the race or on the road to cheer on the runners.
