Unwind at the beach

Beach activities to try before the holiday is over.

Do you have a little bit of time on your hands now that the holiday season is in full swing? Then why not head down to one of the South Coast’s stunning beaches!

Firstly, ensure that the beach you are visiting is safe and clean for water activities. If you’re not keen on getting into the water regardless, nothing beats a good picnic on the sand and the traditional sandcastle building.

Superb scenery at Rocky Bay beach.

Other non-water related activities you could try out include kite flying, volleyball, soccer, playing with a frisbee, limbo and digging trenches.

If this requires too much of your energy and you need something more laid back, perhaps catch up on your sleep with a nap by the seaside or get your summer tan on.

For those of you who do enjoy water activities such as swimming and surfing, remember to stay in areas where lifeguards are present.

Fishing is another great activity for many – especially on the mid-South Coast at beaches such as Scottburgh, Park Rynie and Rocky Bay which was awarded a pilot Blue Flag status.

Fishermen, before heading back to the grind, use your holiday break to master your skill and hopefully land the big one!
