Volleyball club hosts golf day

This volleyball club is all set out for growth and developing the sport of volleyball on the South Coast.

Sideout Volleyball Club will host its first golf day at the Port Shepstone Country Club on Sunday, November 20. The golf day is in aid of sport and community development.

The club has four registered teams that compete locally and one team that competes in national events. Two of its teams are U18 and the club is proud of its junior team that has represented at district, provincial and national levels.

The volleyball club has many events planned for next year which includes taking more teams to national competitions, allowing players to compete for selections on provincial and national teams, as well as hosting beach volleyball tournaments locally. The club is also prepared to get players ready to compete internationally in 2024/25.

“As a club we seek to develop the sport at grassroots level and we host free coaching sessions with adults and children, and look to take these coaching programmes to local primary schools next year. We appeal to businesses to sponsor our vision and allow us an opportunity to grow volleyball among our youth and encourage our women and men to get fit while enjoying the sport, “said chairman Ian Rajagopal.

Tee off is a shotgun start at 09:00 and the format is a combined Stableford. Entry fee is R300 per golfer and includes refreshments and lunch. Awesome prizes to be won. Book at the Pro Shop on 039 6950140 or contact Ian Rajagopal on 084 4401020 or Deon Chetty on 060 9634870.
