Teddies celebrates first Grade R graduates

Teddies inaugural Grade R graduation was a huge success and pupils received gifts from overseas.

Teddies Day Care Centre in Gamalakhe celebrated its very first graduation for the Grade R class.

Pastor Willie van Zyl hands over a certificate to Cebolenkosi Ncayiyana.

The day care was founded in 2021 by the principal, Thokozile Mavundla, a former teacher from the Gamalakhe area.

Gracing the ceremony were parents, the school governing body and guest speakers, Pastors Willie and Cisca Van Zyl and their granddaughter Jade.

“Out of the 17 pre-schoolers at the school, we have five graduating from the Grade R class. This is our very first graduation as Teddies and we are very proud.

“We have mixed emotions as our little Grade Rs are leaving, however we are happy that they will be going to represent us in big school as graduates of Teddies Day Care Centre,” said Mavundla.

Teddies Grade 00 pupil Luthando Ndlovu celebrates with the graduates.

She thanked all the parents for putting their trust in the school and choosing them as the foundation for their children’s education.

As part of the day’s programme the learners made some speeches, spoke about what they want to be when they grow up, performed nursery rhymes and some traditional musical and dance items.

Motivating the pupils and parents, Pastor Willie said: ” All children belong to God. Even in the Bible in Matthew 19 verse 14 God says: ‘ Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these’.

“This verse speaks directly to us as parents, teachers and the community. Knowing that the principal of this school is a child of God I have no doubt that these children are taught about the word of God, every day in their lessons and at home the parents should do the same,” Pastor Willie added.

He concluded by blessing all the pupils and handed over graduation certificates to the five Grade R graduates.
