Two nabbed with homemade firearm

The case was remanded to Umzumbe Magistrate's Court on September 5.

Hibberdene police recently arrested two men after they were found in possession of a homemade firearm and 16 straws of mandrax powder.

Captain Petros Mpinge, spokesperson of Port Shepstone police said the two men, aged 32 and 19 were also found in possession of 92 capsules of heroin and 13 rounds of ammunition.

“They were arrested on August 4 after their residence at Mfazazane in Hibberdene was searched after police received information regarding an illegal firearm. The two suspects appeared in the Umzumbe Magistrate’s Court on Friday, August 5 on charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of unlicensed ammunition, and possession of drugs,” said Mpinge, adding that the case was remanded to September 5.
