Young volleyball stars making Sheppie proud

The tournament enjoyed the support of several sponsors.

A number of South Coast volleyball players represented KwaZulu-Natal at the U19 Interprovincial tournament in Polokwane recently.

The players were Teagan Badri (19), Tyrick Sayers (19), Sreya Leigh Rajagopal (15), Deloshen Valaitham (15) and Kuveshen Valaitham (19).

The girls team secured the bronze medal while the boys walked away with gold.

Ugu District and Port Shepstone Volleyball Association congratulated the stars on their efforts.

Deloshen and Kuveshan both represent Aqua Galaxy, a Durban-based team that plays league in Port Shepstone.

Their overall understanding of the game and experience proved invaluable for the KZN team.

Teegan plays for Falcons and is already a seasoned outside hitter.

Tyrick is a Paragon VC players and although something of a newcomer at this level, is adapting well.

Sreya Leigh represents Sideout VC and while young and inexperienced, is showing substantial promise for the future.

The tournament will be exposing the players to be selected to be part of the SA team which will participate at the Youth Games which will take place in December in Malawi.

Deloshen was duly selected for the South Africa U19 squad, receiving awards for best server and most valuable player.
