Four arrested for dealing in drugs

Community applauded for alerting the police on drug related cases.

Margate police has made vital arrests in the fight against drug abuse.

Police spokesperson, Sergeant Sibu Ncane said Margate Saps received information that a man was dealing in drugs at the Margate taxi rank last Thursday.

“Officers proceeded to the rank and observed the area. A 29-year-old man was spotted and found with various drugs. He was arrested and detained at Margate police cells. Police found 175 heroin capsules, 22 zip lock plastic packets containing crystal meth and five mandrax tablets in his possession.”

The same day police went into Gcilima near a school where community members complained of drug dealing. Police arrested three men who were charged for dealing in drugs.

Police found three capsules of heroin, and 21 half mandrax tablets. The men appeared in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court last Friday, and all three were granted bail of R1 500 each. The case was postponed to August 11.

Station Commander Brigadier William Slabbert applauded the community members for alerting the police. He encouraged the public to keep on reporting any drug-related incidents to the police.
