Two arrested for housebreaking

Suspects were found with copper cables and other property.

Margate police recently arrested two men, aged 37 and 45 on charges of housebreaking and theft.

Sergeant Sibu Ncane, Margate police spokesperson said they recently responded to a complaint of housebreaking and theft at De Witt Street in Margate Extension 3 after the owner checked on his property which was unoccupied.

“He realised that the residence had been burgled and immediately contacted police who found copper cables and other property that was already packed by the suspects. A search of the property was done and the suspects were found hiding in the ceiling. They were arrested and charged with housebreaking and theft,” said Ncane.

He added that the suspects recently appeared in the Ramsgate Magistrate’s Court.

Ncane said the possibility of whether the accused are involved in other housebreakings in the area will be investigated.
