AMBC’s anniversary tournament a success

Tournament participants and helpers added to the great atmosphere on the day.

AMBC‘s anniversary tournament was a huge success with 24 teams participating.

It was brilliant weather and excellent catering by Jean Thommassen, Marietjie van Wyk and Maggie Eley on the day. Thanks to all for their participation in making this a big success.

The bar volunteers did a great job. Jackie Hutchins, thanks for manning the bar all day for two days. The other helpers that joined in between playing games, thank you. Bev Smith, thank you for stocking up all the time. All your participation is what makes our club such a great one.

James Goble, thank you for doing the scoring and Hilary Holmes for setting it all up. Hilary, we hope you enjoy your holiday.

The winners were Liesje de Rosner, Helen Turk, Alf Toy and Mike Eley. Runners-up were Des Hean, Ron Craven, Averil Smith and Kate Morris. Third were Tony Simpson, Billy Smith, Elma Pennells and Louise Shone. The final session went to Bob Elliott, Noelene Venter, Alex Cameron and Bev Smith.

The sponsors, Hibiscus Retirement Villages were represented by Marcel Marais (maintenance manager URV) and Winston van der Schyff (estate manager) who attended the prize giving.

The Singles Championship finals were played on June 28. Congratulations to the champions for 2022, Liesje de Rosner (women’s) and Fred Hutchins (men’s)

Runners-up were Helen Turk and Len Brickhill.

Liesje and Fred will represent AMBC in the KBA Champion of Champions at the end of August. We will be watching the space.
