Business indaba tackles challenges faced by youth enterprises

The business indaba created a platform for much-needed dialogue between SMMEs and stakeholders to address some of the challenges facing youth-owned enterprises within the Ugu District.

The Esayidi Youth in Business Indaba, hosted by the Esayidi TVET College Business Incubator (Esayidi Centre for Entrepreneurship & Singatha Incubator) on June 15 was an initiative to bring SMMEs and key stakeholders within the SMME Development eco-system together.

The business indaba created a platform for much-needed dialogue between SMMEs and stakeholders to address some of the challenges facing youth-owned enterprises within the Ugu District.

The business indaba took the form of an interactive facilitated dialogue between stakeholders like Seda National, NYDA Ugu, Ray Nkonyeni Municipality HOD in Strategic Planning and Governance, Ray Nkonyeni Local Economic Development Department, BBBEE Commission, SEFA, Ithala Bank, Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Vodacom that committed their time, effort and resources to addressing some of the challenges that the young entrepreneurs are dealing with.

Important attendees included Sandile Longwe (Seda National), Nhlanhla Shibe (NYDA Ugu), Siya Zama (Ray Nkonyeni Municipality HOD in Strategic Planning and Governance), Noluthando Mthethwa (Ray Nkonyeni Local Economic Development Department), Nhlanhla Skhosana (SEFA), Gladwill Malishe (Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industry) and Sthembile Nxumalo (Vodacom).
