Nineteen injured in 13-vehicle pile-up on N2 at Esperanza

Emergency services including Kwazulu Private Ambulance Service responded to the N2 southbound at Esperanza for reports of a collision earlier this afternoon.
According to reports from the scene, heavy smoke from a grass fire decreased viability and resulted in the collision.

Emergency personnel found that 13 vehicles had been involved in a collision.
Paramedics quickly assessed the scene and found that 19 patients had sustained injuries ranging from serious to minor.

The patients were treated on scene before being transported to hospital for further treatment.
The road is currently being cleared by recovery services.
