He was sentenced last Wednesday in the Scottburgh Magistrate’s Court, declared unfit to possess a firearm and his name will be entered in the National Register for Sex Offenders.

The investigating officer of the case was Detective Sergeant Siboniso Gcaba of the Port Shepstone Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit.

Ugu District Commissioner, Major General Sethenya Nxamagele was pleased with the sentence and stressed the importance of listening to children, especially when they report incidents of abuse or sexual assault and to pro-actively act on that information.

“As adults we are entrusted with the care of all children, let us do all we can now and always.”
