It has been well over a week since the KZN floods resulted in water shortages in several communities – including Scottburgh and surrounds.
Although this has caused havoc and driven people to a state of despair, there is still a bit of light at the end of the tunnel.
As water shortages continue, the Scottburgh community grows stronger in unity as places of worship, local organisations, businesses and individuals have taken it upon themselves to provide water to residents.
For example, a Scottburgh individual went as far as installing taps outside his homes for the public to fill up buckets and containers of water to bath, drink and cook with.
There have also been many people handing out bottles of free drinking water.
It’s incredibly heartwarming to know that you’re part of a selfless community.
A massive thank you goes out to every single person that has provided water to those struggling without it for days upon days.
And to those who have gone the extra mile to be able to provide this basic need to local residents – you all are very much appreciated and thanked for doing so.
Who would have thought that something disastrous could end in unity?
Let’s just hope that the unity continues and water crisis comes to an end soon!
