Brother and sister release debut track

They hope their music will create a feeling of 'you are not alone' and that through their music they will encourage people to always return to their principles because no one is promised tomorrow.

In their debut track, ‘Die Lewe is te Kort’, brother-and-sister, Tammy van der Merwe and Wade Bezuidenhout of the band Dagbreek remind listeners to live in the moment and not to let their past determine the future.

“All we have is today so we have to make the best of it and live it to the fullest,” said Tammy, of Uvongo.

This country/pop single will be released on Friday, January 21 at a special launch concert at the Douglas Mitchell sports bar where the audience will also have the chance to win prizes worth R10 000.

It starts at 18:00 for 18:30 and admission is free.

“We all go through difficult times and sometimes fall back. We started making music in church and later expanded to play in pubs. We’ve seen and experienced how easy it is for the world to swallow you. We tried hard to fit into the international pop market, but there was always something missing. When we recently started writing in Afrikaans, we really found our voice and it also brought us back to our Christian foundation,” added Wade, who lives in St. Michaels.
