Great turnout at Scottburgh half marathon
Amanzimtoti Athletic Club won the team prize with the most entries from one club and was followed closely by South Coast Striders who used Scottburgh's race as its club champs.
The iconic half marathon and 10k race was hosted by Scottburgh Athletic Club which saw almost 400 participants making it a huge success last Sunday.
The club’s committee worked tirelessly for many weeks to ensure smooth sailing on the day and their hard work paid off, as it was truly a memorable day for both athletes and their supporters, as well as local community members who spectated.
Athletes began and finished the race at Scottburgh Golf Club. The 10k participants ran to and turned before Crocworld Conservation Centre while the others went all the way to Halfway Toyota Malanda, up to the view point and back.

Scottburgh Athletic Club thanks its sponsors for the tremendous support and prizes, especially Pick ‘n Pay at Scottburgh Mall and another big sponsor, Halfway Toyota which provided lead cars and a refreshment table.
Tables were very festive and the runners commented on how fantastic they were.
A big thank you was also extended to the golf club and manager, Deane Jooste, club captain Bob Hall and staff for the awesome venue and all the help, and to race organiser Dana Daniels and Scottburgh Athletic Club members.
The Scottburgh 21km men’s open winner was Mathanga Mbuleli from Phantane Athletic Club (KZNA) and the women’s open winner was Kim Anderson from Amanzimtoti Athletic Club.
Men’s 40-49 age group winner was Brino Chidzungu and women’s winner was Manuela Diener.
Men’s 50-59 age group winner was Sipho Majombozi and women’s winner was Deborah Berridge.
Men’s 60+ winner was Lennord Beets and women’s winner was Johanna Taljaard.
In the 10km race, Katleho Moloi from Phantane Athletic Club (KZNA) took the win for the men’s open and Mikhaela De Oliveira from Murray & Roberts (KZNA) for the women’s open.
