Hit-and-run victim Terry will be missed
Sheila said Terry was never idle, and, along with his job at the Herald, he also repaired shoes.
The family of Terry Samuels, who was employed in the newspaper delivery department of the Herald for the past 25 years is shocked by his untimely death – he was killed in what is believed to have been a hit-and run accident in Murchison on Sunday (6th).
“Port Shepstone Saps has opened a culpable homicide case after a 60-year-old man was found deceased on the N2 main Harding road near KwaSithole bus stop in Murchison. It is alleged that he may have been knocked down by a vehicle which failed to stop at the scene,” said police spokesperson, Captain Petros Mpinge.
“It’s unbelievable that he died under such tragic circumstances. It feels like Terry has gone on holiday and will return soon,” said his sister Sheila Samuels.
According to Sheila, her brother had visited a cousin in Murchison and was on his way home to Marburg when the incident happened in the evening.
She described him as a ‘good somebody’ who loved everyone and he will be sorely missed by family and friends.
“Terry was quiet and timid. He was loving, caring and well-mannered.”
He also enjoyed dressing up. “He took pride not only in the manner which he dressed, but also his home,” said Sheila.
A keen fisherman, he often fished alone along the South Coast, as well as with friends.
Sheila said Terry was never idle, and, along with his job at the Herald, he also repaired shoes.
Tragically, Terry’s son Leon died about 11 years ago.
Police urge anyone with information, especially a description of the vehicle that hit Terry, to contact the investigating officer, Sergeant Belinda Francis on 039 6881055 or 072 3739047 at Port Shepstone detective service.
