‘Marburg’ Mile for Tim as Midmar goes virtual

He was joined by his family who celebrated the end of his 39th swim by re-awarding him one of his old medals.

Tim Barratt of Umtentweni, formerly of Paddock, has completed his 39th Midmar Mile, albeit a ‘virtual’ swim this year.

The Midmar Mile, like many other events, has had to make the necessary adjustments due to Covid and this year it includes a virtual swim.

This year was, or would have been, Tim Barratt’s 39th Midmar Mile.

He was happy to be able to complete the 1600m by swimming 64 lengths in the 25m Marburg municipal swimming pool in a time of just under 57 minutes on the morning of Wednesday, March 10.

He was joined by his family who celebrated the end of his 39th swim by re-awarding him one of his old medals.

This is a fine accomplishment at the age of 76.

Hopefully, he can swim his 40th at the famous dam next year.
