Mpenjati Eco-Festival will be an outdoor affair

These will take place at specific times in the mornings and afternoons.

The Mpenjati Eco-Festival is changing its format this year, with new emphasis being placed on the outdoor experience.

The festival will be spread over three days, from December 16 to 18 and will make greater use of the beautiful outdoors, spacious amenities, and various attractions within the reserve.

It promises to be a series of adventures in wild spaces.

Daily walk-and-talk events are the focus of the new format, which will include demonstrations and activities also suitable for children.

Mpenjati is one of the coast’s best kept secrets.

These will take place at specific times in the mornings and afternoons.

Although the Eco-Festival will be scaled down for 2020, the message remains the same – to inspire communities to appreciate the value of wild places and to live more consciously, and in harmony within our environments.

The motivation and vision of the festival is to continue creating awareness and knowledge around the importance of eco-friendly living and contributions of everyday citizens, towards biodiversity protection and the intersections of, social development, eco-tourism and community conservation.

Hosted by the Mpenjati Honorary Officers Group in partnership with Mpenjati Conservancy, the 2020 Mpenjati Eco-Festival will be held on the north bank of the Reserve with certain activities starting on the south bank.

Programme details will be published online. Strict Covid-19 protocols will be applied as required by Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife and programme activities are in line with best practices.

Entrance to Mpenjati Nature Reserve on the day is R15 per adult and R10 per child – to be paid at the gates.
