Captain Luvuyo Nomaqhiza is the new station commander at Gamalakhe

The Captain said he was optimistic that his LLB qualification would play an important role in helping him fulfill his new duties.

Captain Luvuyo Nomaqhiza has been appointed as the new Gamalakhe station commander. The new commander has an open door policy and is already planning to hold a meeting with all Gamalakhe stakeholders in an effort to ensure service delivery is rendered.

“I am open to constructive criticism – policing is not a one man show and we need to work together to ensure that Gamalakhe is a safe place for everyone,” he said. Captain Nomaqhiza joined the police force in 1998, enrolling at the Pretoria West Police College before going on to become a constable at the Margate Community Services Centre. His many years of experience include a stint as sergeant at the Margate detective unit, some time in Cape Town with the VIP protection unit and later a promotion to warrant officer.

He was promoted to captain in 2007, and moved to the Cape Town Community Services Centre.

In 2016 he returned to Margate as relief commander and in 2017 was appointed as Margate SAPS Task Team commander. He has also served as acting station commander at Paddock, Mehlomnyama and Gamalakhe. The new station commander said he was optimistic that his LLB qualification will play an important role in helping him fulfill his new duties.
