Water update from Ugu District Municipality

According the municipality, the St Helen's Rocks pump station is currently offline.

Please note the following status update:

  • St Helen’s Rocks pump station is currently offline. This is due to Eskom feeder transformer overheating. The fault has since been logged to Eskom to assess and advise on the restoration turnaround. We are therefore feeding Bhobhoyi plant from the dam with production at 75%; boosters have been temporarily shut down.
  • Marburg outlet was closed last night; and has been opened to reticulation. Esperanza pump station is currently offline due Marburg booster off while the issue of Eskom at St Helen Rock being sorted out. Reports of no water in Oslo Beach are currently being attended to.

  • Umzimkhulu reservoir is  healthy and tower being fed.
  • Gamalakhe reservoir is above 50%.  Sports and Leisure off due to low plant production.
  • The inflow is low at Uvongo reservoir and our teams are checking the bulk mains for any restriction.
  • Seaslopes reservoir is healthy and plumber is busy opening supply to Ramsgate. There is a damaged power supply cable on the main incomer to Kaisers pump station; contractor busy on site to repair damaged cable; supply to Margate ext 3&7, Nosita, Gayridge is affected. We estimate to start pumping during the day.
  • Margate 2 & 9A reservoirs feeding CBD are healthy, currently sitting at above 50%.

 

Umthavuna system:

Plant and Pump station are currently offline due loadshedding: 08:00 – 10:30.

Port Edward, Grasmere and Trafalgar are opened.

Inland: Hanover pump station off until power at the plant has been restored. The line to KwaXolo/Gcilima opened.
