JUST IN: Manaba thief nabbed by security officer

Further investigations revealed that the man and two accomplices had broken into the home and several items had been stolen.

A private security officer has been praised for his quick response and bravery which led to the arrest of a suspected thief. The suspect is now in police custody.

The Fidelity ADT Monitoring Centre recently received an alarm activation from a Manaba home and immediately dispatched armed response officer (ARO), Mxolisi Ntobela, who arrived at the property within minutes.

Upon arrival, ARO Ntobela conducted a perimeter check and soon spotted a suspect jumping over the wall. The suspect was successfully apprehended and handed over for arrest to Margate police.

Further investigations revealed that the man and two accomplices had broken into the home and several items had been stolen.

The suspect was searched and was found to be in possession of a pallet gun, screwdrivers and a knife, and was arrested on charges of house robbery and trespassing.
