Disturbing find for Mbhele family

The small coffin contained a chilling collection of items.

No one was prepared to open a small brown coffin found at the gate of the Mbhele homestead in Nyandezulu, so they called the police.

However, although shocked and horrified, the family was also curious and while they waited for the police, decided to investigate.

From a safe distance, a metal hook was used to open the coffin, which was covered with a black bin bag.

Inside the coffin lay a doll, smeared with muthi, a live green bush snake, needles and a bottle-shaped piece of paper bearing the name ‘Alson Mbhele’, the head of the home and a prophet at a nearby church.

The strange collection of objects in the little coffin.

According to the family, they were inside their home on Tuesday morning this week when they heard neighbors calling.

“Haibo! When I saw the coffin I almost fainted. This is absurd,” said Bheki Mbhele.

The family decided to call the Paddock police while the community gathered around, fascinated by the find.

One said they had only read about such things and had no idea that it could happen right on their doorstep.

“I’m afraid because I don’t know what this means. I don’t even know how I will sleep at night.”

The family said the coffin was removed.
