Nursing staff were acknowledged by the hospital board members for their dedication despite the many challenges they face. Some of the categories that were awarded were no record of absenteeism in a three-year cycle. Record for receiving the most compliments from patients and record for making positive changes in the hospital.

Sister Ncamsile Majola was rewarded for her competence and excellent performance in rendering nursing care to the patients and received the floating trophy and a gift in appreciation of her hard work by Dinesh Pillay, the hospital board chairman.

Guest speaker, Dr Vusumzi Khalala, an experienced medical officer from Murchison Hospital, said “Modern nursing is complex and ever-changing, nurses need to develop themselves by expanding their knowledge base. In doing so they will be able to provide an environment that promotes patient health and well-being.”

The event was thoroughly enjoyed by all the nursing staff, who were entertained by choral music from the Pediatric ward staff and an educational drama on professionalism and ethics.
