Special training for karate siblings

Master Murakami is on his yearly tour throughout the country conducting development workshops and advanced technical seminars on various styles of karate.

WORLD renowned Japanese master Manabu Murakami joined Shihan Frank Moodley of Port Shepstone at a special training session held at Tongaat Indoor Sports Centre last Friday.

About 300 senior instructors took part in this special three hour seminar.

Siblings Miguel and Tyler Gous of Port Shepstone Shotokan Karate Club, under Shihan Frank, excelled in kata and kumite at the Kanazawa Cup, which attracted about 650 entries, last Saturday.

Both won gold for kata and silver for kumite in their catergories.

Master Murakami is on his yearly tour throughout the country conducting development workshops and advanced technical seminars on various styles of karate.

Many karateka turned out for the special training session held in Tongaat on the North Coast.

He was excited to be back in one of his favourite countries, where he said he found the ‘karate spirit’ to be strong.
