Three arrested for Gamalakhe double murder

The bodies of Doris Ntozakhe (70) and Sfiso Ntozakhe (34) were found at their home in Walter Sisulu Road.

Three people have been arrested in connection with last Friday’s slaying of a mother and son in their Gamalakhe home.

The suspects, aged 26, 23 and 22 years, were arrested in Mpangeni, Port Shepstone and Gamalakhe on Tuesday this week.

According to Margate police spokesman Sergeant Sibu Ncane, at the time of his arrest, the 26-year-old was found in possession of the murdered man’s car.

The men will appear in the Ramsgate High Court today (Thursday), facing charges of murder.

The bodies of Doris Ntozakhe (70) and Sfiso Ntozakhe (34) were found covered with blankets and locked inside a bathroom at their home in Walter Sisulu Road.

The gruesome discovery was made after a woman went to the Gamalakhe police station and reported a bad smell coming from her neighbour’s house. Phone calls to the occupants, she said, had also gone unanswered.

When police arrived, they discovered that the premises were secured, and the main gate locked. All doors and windows were closed.

“When police searched around the perimeter of the house, they noticed flies inside the bathroom. The door was forced open and the two slightly decomposed bodies were found,” said Sgt Ncane.

A rope was found around Sfiso’s neck.

A car which had been parked in the yard, as well as a TV, sound system and bank cards were missing.

Sfiso was associated with the television industry and had previously worked on the popular local soapie, Generations.

Generations the Legacy spokesman Gaaratwe Mokhethi said Sfiso was a talented writer who had played an important role during his time with the series. He extended condolences to the family.

Doris was a retired teacher who was running her own businesses.

Neighbors who had gathered to pray as the bodies were removed said they were very shocked and feared for their lives.

“They were good people who loved going to church, they didn’t deserve to die the way they did. How can people be so cruel?” asked one.

Family spokesman Mlungisi Ntozakhe said the funeral would take place at the Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre this Saturday, February 16.
