Margate course in good summer nick

The club champion was in town for a game.

THE Wobblers alliance at Margate Country Club last Wednesday was won by Rob Brien, Dave Boyd, Ernie Janse and Dave Morrison on 88 points.

Three behind were André Henn, Frank Merrill, Louie Gouws and Piet Pretorius on 85 points.

In third spot on 82 points were Cyril Greensmith, Brian Jeffreys, Roy Nolan and Bob Weanie.

The Arthur Tomlinson Floater went to Konnie Konrad, Hans Beilhartz, Jan Beilhartz and Rohan Clivers on 75 points.

Last Thursday’s competition was won on 37 points by Robin Shuttleworth, counting out Carlos Perreira.

Nearest the pins for two were Johan Stoltz (7th) and Sydney Shingange (12th).

Grant Patterson and Donovan Scowby won last Saturday’s competition on 46 points, by two from Peter Hunter and Pierre Malherbe, who counted out Doug Johnston and Derek Egerton.

Current club champion Sean Baker, who is based in Kokstad and George but plays for Southern KZN out of Margate, enjoyed a game with Ivan Curlewis, but couldn’t beat the veteran, who had 70.

He said the course was in very good condition.

Nearest the pins were Theo Nicholls (2nd) and Mot Moleele (11th).

The mixed alliance last Sunday was won by Joe Espach, Mike Jones, Jane Davies and Lexley Lewis on 86 points, by two from Emile and Debbie Dellieu, Johann and Lesley Erasmus.
