Battle was on at fun run

The event was organised in terms of the rules and conditions of KwaZulu-Natal Athletics and Athletics South Africa.

The Battle of Ramaloo Nandia Challenge, organised by Ugu Athletics Club (UAC), was well supported.

The event took place at Port Shepstone Senior Primary last Saturday.

UAC chairman Pardon Mathebula said the event is a major one for the club.

“All our members put their heads together for one common goal – to promote active, healthy lifestyles within the Port Shepstone community.”

Port Shepstone businessman Roy Ramnath has kindly offered to donate a pair of running shoes to Andiswa Mzelemu, the first woman to cross the finishing line in the 5km race.

He paid tribute to founding member of the UAC, Eddie Ramaloo who has made great strides to ensure the success of the club.

He added that the challenge had been introduced in Eddie’s honour.

The event was organised in terms of the rules and conditions of KwaZulu-Natal Athletics and Athletics South Africa.

Prize money was awarded in the 5km and 10km runs, and lucky draws took place.

Dion Chetty congratulates his daughter Maesha on completing the 5km race.

Siyabonga Xolo won the 5km race and the 10km race was won by Mziwenkosi Mjaja.
