Warm welcome for police minister Bheki Cele

The delegation was joined by local SAPS heads and law enforcement officers from Ray Nkonyeni Municipality.

Visible policing has been much in evidence this festive season, and even police minister Bheki Cele made a whistle-stop visit to the South Coast recently.

Mr Cele explained that his visit was aimed at sharing practical safety tips and finding out how the police could enhance their service.

He toured the Shelly Centre, Southcoast Mall and Margate with a group of national police and provincial officials, all of whom received a warm South Coast welcome.

The delegation was joined by local SAPS heads and law enforcement officers from Ray Nkonyeni Municipality.

Locals were also encouraged to report criminal activities to relevant authorities in order to curb crime, and emergency contact numbers were shared.

“Be responsible, stay safe and those who will be travelling must drive carefully to make sure they make a safe return to the South Coast,” the minister said.
