Man shot, drugs seized

Dagga and three straws of heroin were found.

A KNIFE-WIELDING man was shot in the leg by Warrant Officer Patrick Gosling from Port Shepstone SAPS last Wednesday at about 4pm.

W/O Gosling was walking through the Port Shepstone bus rank, with two of his colleagues some distance behind him, when he was approached by three men.

“The men advanced towards the policeman in an aggressive manner and one of them drew a knife,” said spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.

“W/O Gosling cautioned them, and fired a warning shot, but they still drew nearer with the knife,” she said.

She said he then fired a shot at the man (32), wounding him in the leg. The other two men ran away. Three straws of heroin and a quantity of dagga were found in his possession. He was charged with possession of heroin and is expected to appear in court soon.
