Four life sentences for rapist and killer

The children were raped twice.

Rapist and murderer Muzikayise Emmanuel Ngcobo was handed four life sentences in the Durban High Court recently.

On February 12, 2011, two children, then aged 11 and 13 years, were walking with their 20-year-old uncle to visit a relative in the Madlala area, Umzumbe when Ngcobo approached them.

He threatened them with a knife and told them he would shoot them, claiming to also be in possession of a firearm.

He led them into a forest where he assaulted the children before raping them twice.

Ngcobo forced the uncle to rape one of the children before Ngcobo slit his throat.

Southport detectives investigated tirelessly and followed up on many leads before finally arresting him in Engcobo, Eastern Cape.

He was sentenced to four life sentences for raping both children twice, 15 years for three counts of kidnapping, 12 years for two counts of sexual assault, six years for one count of compelled rape, six years for assault (GBH), five years for assault, 15 years for murder and 15 years for robbery with aggravating circumstances.

Acting cluster commander, Brigadier Bongani Sibiya commended the investigating officer, Detective Warrant Officer Mark John and all who assisted him.

“I am extremely pleased with the sentence. The little community of Umzumbe sleeps better at night knowing that Ngcobo will spend the rest of his life in prison.”
