Woman and dog endure hijacking ordeal in Hibberdene

The hijackers drive off with a woman and her dog in Hibberdene.

A case of hijacking has been opened for investigation at Hibberdene Saps. A 76-year old man had parked his vehicle at a shopping complex in Hibberdene with his wife and dog in the car while he went inside the store.

He then heard his wife screaming as hijackers drove off with them.

Police spokesman, Captain Petros Zenzele Mpinge said the man’s wife and dog were later assisted by a member of the public who picked them up in David Drive and brought them to the service station in Hibberdene.

The police were contacted and gave chase. “The vehicle was found abandoned in the Esihlonyaneni area in Hibberdene. The suspects had fled with the car keys and a handbag,” he said.

Fortunately no one was injured during the ordeal. Sergeant Grant Phehlukwayo of Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit (VCIU) is investigating the case.

No arrests have been made.
