Margate Moves: Fill those water buckets

Be prepared and fill up any spare containers with water.

RESIDENTS are urged to take note that there could be water interruptions following a work stoppage by workers affiliated to the South African Municipal Workers’ Union at Ugu District Municipality.

The statement issued by the municipality claims the strike action is illegal and that it has engaged the services of law enforcement agencies to deal with possible acts of sabotage to municipal infrastructure.

During a previous unprotected strike the workers caused major disruptions to the water supply.

Over the past weekend many areas in Ramsgate were without water for days.

Be prepared and fill up any spare containers with water.

More municipal matters

The winter holiday season starts next month which should give Ray Nkonyeni Municipality enough time to fix all the non-functioning street lights in Margate’s central business district.

Driving through the town at night is a dark, gloomy and unwelcoming sight. Margate Business Association has planned Mardi Gras during the winter holidays, but who can enjoy a street party in the dark.

Perhaps the MBA needs to put more pressure on the municipality’s street light maintenance team to repair the lights ASAP.

Fun fair

Margate Retirement Village’s Residents’ Activities Committee is hosting a Craft Fair and Market at the Azalea Hall this Saturday, June 2 from 8.30am.

Not only will there be great hand-made goods on offer but a good selection of jewellery, art and plants too.

But for many the best part of any fair is the traditional fare and tasty curry and rice, boerewors rolls and pancakes will be on offer. Talented Shelly King will provide the background music in the tea garden.
