Local pool players crowned SA champs

The local club outshone the rest and did it in convincing style.

The association was unbeaten in the round robin stages, beating Western Gauteng in the semi-final and thereafter Eastern Gauteng in the thrilling final. Most provinces have been trying for many years to win this prestigious title but the local 8-ball pool association outshone the rest and did it in convincing style, after been reinstated as a region only this year after almost eight years.

Top performer, Raja Naidoo, was the number one seed in the tournament. Raja went on to lose in the last 16 of the doubles tournament with his partner, team captain Terrance Chetty.

“We want to express our gratitude to all of our sponsors in cash and kind who helped get us to the Nationals in Gauteng. There were many who supported our fund-raisers for finances. Your support is much appreciated,” said Terrance.

He added that the competition was tough and very competitive. The association now looks forward to the junior and open national tournament to be held over September and October this year.
