One of Southern Africa’s most unique music festival experiences to be hosted in the mountains of Lesotho

The event features some of the biggest acts in the Lesotho and South African music scene.

Winterfest is returning to Afriski Mountain Resort, Lesotho for its fourth year in a row.

This time, however, it will be launching the start of the winter ski and snowboarding season, as well as the closure in August this year.

Afriski Winterfest is one of Southern Africa’s most unique music festival experiences. Hosted by the majestic Afriski Mountain Resort in Lesotho, the event features some of the biggest acts in the Lesotho and South African music scene. The snow themed music festival appeals not only to heavy festival goers but also to ski enthusiasts and snowboarders alike.

Winterfest is back and this year, we want to be the opening and headline act to your winter in Southern Africa, – said Alex Torrao, Co-Founder of Afriski Winterfest.

The one of a kind, snow and mountain music festival will be the official season opening event from June 7 to 10.

Before closing the season with a bang from August 23 to 26.

The Showstoppers

In 2017, the likes of Gangs of Ballet, Desmond and the Tutu’s, Morena Leraba, DJ Viktoria and so many more lit up the multiple stages on the slopes.

This year, the stellar cast of performers for Afriski Winterfest 2018 will include Jack Parow, Rubber Duc, Albert Frost, Gunshot Blue, Sean Hayz, DJ Wags as well as Lesotho’s very own DJ Mocheques, Dj Davertz and many more. There will be four unique stages, with varying style and tempo, from Indie, to Rock and R&B.

From the fun and authentic Pop-Folk hybrid sound that is Rubber Duc, or the deep, funky soul of DJ Mocheques to the brash, in your face Afrikaans swagger of Jack Parow. Whatever stage, whatever day, Winterfest 2018 will have you on your feet. – says Alex Torrao, Co-Founder of Afriski Winterfest.

The Sleepers

Afriski offers a variety of accommodation options tailored to every party goer. The accommodation is available in various packages. Pick between backpackers, a shared room with bunk beds, sleeping up to 92 people and boasting a young, energetic and communal atmosphere or, for larger groups, go with the luxury chalets, lodges and apartments on offer at the Afriski resort.

The Snow

To add to the unique setting, festival goers will be surrounded by snow. Every Winterfest package comes inclusive with a three-day mountain pass, three-day festival pass, ski and snowboard lessons, as well as ski and snowboard gear rental.

“For the fourth year running, we are very excited to welcome both local and international visitors to the mountain kingdom to experience one of Lesotho’s best kept secrets; snow, Basotho hospitality and Southern Africa’s most unique music festival.” Peter Peyper, Afriski Operations Director.
